Illustration Sessions with Amal
Beginning September 9th, I’ll be offering monthly ongoing online illustration sessions.
Emphasis is on book illustration, but the same processes/techniques
apply across the board–an exciting time to be part of this scene!
Session set-up:
– Begin with details about the illustration process – focusing on producing the strongest art possible (there is usually a downloadable PDF).
– (Pleasant) critique notes, both in drawing and written notes, will be marked on your art. We will go through it/them individually as well as any, and nearly all, questions you may have.
– I’ll send you a template to follow to submit your art one day in advance. Nothing truly complicated, and no different from how you might submit to an editor, or art director, or agent. Basic, but important.
– Once we have discussed your work and gone through the notes/questions, you’ll make the necessary edits and send it back to me within two weeks of each session for another review.

The artwork you choose to work on is up to you, but if you need help choosing, shoot me an email. If you’ve not got a current project in the works: book dummy, a portfolio that requires strengthening, individual illustration, etc… I can provide you with text, OR, you can choose something you love.
I also LOVE to provide suggested exercises (mainly in the drawing department). Ultimately, the more you draw, the more you draw.

Sessions run every second Thursday of the month from 11 AM – 12:30 PM EST. $65/session
